Sending Text Messages & Emails in MedEssist
Learn how to quickly send freeform texts and emails from MedEssist, plus how to create templates for commonly-sent messages.
Creating & Sending Text Templates
1. Click "Schedule" on the sidebar
2. Click on "New" , then "Email/Text" from the drop-down, and select "Text"
3. Click "Templates", then "Create a Custom Text Template" from the drop-down.
There are also preset text templates you can use anytime!
Tip! Using a template is optional — you can also type your message directly into the text box without selecting one
4. Type your message, give your template a name, and click "Save Template" when you're done!
5. Enter the patient's phone number in the top field.
Adjust your message if needed and click "Send Text"

Creating & Sending Email Templates
6. From the "Schedule" tab:
Click on "New" , then "Email/Text" from the drop-down, and select "Email"
7. Click "Templates"
Select "Create a Custom Email Template" from the drop down menu
8. Type your email, give your template a name, and click "Save Template" when you're done!
Tip! Personalize your email with fonts, colors, booking links, PDF attachments, and more.
9. Enter the patient's email address in the top field.
Adjust your message if needed and click "Send Email"
Repeat process for eligible patients
Tip! Similar to text messages, email templates are optional—you can simply type your message directly into the text box without selecting one.
10. You can also use "Mass Email" to send an email to everyone on today’s appointment list.
Note: "Mass Email" is for patient communications only and cannot be used to advertise products or services unrelated to the patient's registration (as per federal and provincial healthcare regulations)
