Using MDConnected for Travel Consultations

Learn how to use MedEssist for everything you need to complete a travel health consultation, including prescriptions provided by an MDConnected clinician. 

Patient Registration

Tip! Patients complete pre-assessment questions online or with your help. Once submitted, the booking will appear under "Schedule" on your dashboard.

Submitting the Pre-Assessment

1. Click "Review" to start the travel appointment

2. Update pre-assessment answers if needed

3. Before completing the Patient Care Plan, click "Use Virtual Provider" at the bottom

4. Click "Submit pre-assessment form(s) below" to send the pre-assessment form to MD Connected to queue the patient with a travel health clinician

Adding Recommendations

5. Click "Revise" to go back to your consult documentation

6. Under Patient Care Plan, click the "Requesting RX from consulting provider (including virtual provider)" field

7. After discussing with the patient, select the recommendations you would like to submit to the travel health clinician

8. Click "Save" once you have finished selecting your recommendations

Signature and Submission

9. Upon exiting the Travel Consult Revise window, a confirmation will appear about the $45 fee charged to the pharmacy for this service

10. Sign and click "Submit pharmacist recommendations"

11. A confirmation window will appear and a clinician will respond with prescriptions prescriptions in about 10 minutes.

Note: If 10-15 minutes have passed and you still haven't received back a prescription, please contact MDConnected directly via the live chat on their website, www.mdconnected.ca.
